City of DeSmet

The City of DeSmet is 1046 population. DeSmet is the county seat for Kingsbury County. It is also the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder whose books were the basis for the hit TV show Little House on the Prairie. DeSmet has many businesses, a thriving downtown, and a booming industrial park. There is a great school district with strong athletics and education. There are many churches, fishing and sport hunting, an award winning newspaper, and a welcoming spirit.
